October is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Communities and schools across Ontario will raise awareness throughout the month and “Dress Purple” today to show their commitment to the rights of children and youth when it comes to their safety.
Child Witness Centre, Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region and the Waterloo Regional Police along with other community partners have established the Waterloo Region Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, a collaborative best practice model for investigating reports of child abuse and providing wraparound support to these young victims, witnesses and their families. This dedicated and specialized professional team will fill a critical gap in our community.
